Introducing Torin Nikiforuk!
by Yard Athletics – Sept 6th, 2019
Yard Athletics is proud to announce the newest member of the team, Torin Nikiforuk, as Junior Strength & Conditioning Coach!
We couldn’t be happier to bring Torin into the fold, and look forward to him bringing a new energy and motivation to all sessions with the #YARDHARD squad.
Torin is now available on the MindBody app for all different sessions, and for a limited time all 1:1 sessions are 50% off! If you can, log onto the app and book a class with Torin to welcome him into the family.
We figured this would be a great chance to get to know Torin a little better, so we fired a couple questions at him to hear more about his fitness background on philosophy.
Hometown?
Calgary. ‘Berta boy for life!
Fitness background?
Always loved being active but started teaching HITT style classes at Kondi just over a year ago. Modern day Einstein with that TRX.
What made you get into personal training?
In Uni I studied neuroscience which I guess was the start of it all. I became fascinated with the effects exercise has as a therapeutic for individuals with neurodegenerative disorders. Think boxing workshops for people with Parkinson’s; not only does exercise act as an outlet for these people, but can be a proper way to facilitate rehabilitation. So really I got into fitness to help people on whatever level I can. Also, I used to be a little chubs so helping people through the same journey I went through is pretty rad!
Favorite sports growing up?
Lol…. badminton/ fencing – not your orthodox childhood.
What is your fitness philosophy?
Werk werk werk werk werk.
Favorite / worst exercise?
Love a good weighted plank. Hate a hamstring curl.
What can people expect when they train with you at Yard Athletics?
Hard work, a couple of laughs, and GT’s all around . Need a shoulder to cry on? Cumby’s are about 3 times the size of mine.. more circumference = more comfort.
